Los Angeles-based Ecotex and the company founder, Raphael Javaheri, have been on the forefront of sustainable fabrics since 1992, when Raphael, a third-generation textile executive began working with a then-new fiber, lyocell, which is best known by the Lenzing brand name Tencel.
Today, Ecotex, a division of South Park Creative, designs, develops and offers a wide range of sustainable knits and woven fabrics through strategic collaborations. In addition to Tencel, the company develops Micromodal, Pima cotton, organic cotton, recycled cotton, recycled polyester, recycled nylon, Ecovera, linen and Bemberg fabrics, for a customer base that includes designer and contemporary brands, as well as sustainability-conscious, mass-market retailers.
